Meeting Intention

  • The purpose of the meetings is for participants to have the opportunity of learning aspects of coaching and to experience a coaching session.

A volunteer will share about something they consider important about coaching for about ten minutes. If the volunteer is willing they will respond to questions about the topic they shared on for about five minutes.

Coaching Session

  • The leader will ask for volunteers who are interested and willing to be coached.
  • As the volunteers identey themselves, they give a one sentence statement about their goal they are interested in receiving coaching on. The leader chooses a person to be coached.
  • The leader then asks for volunteers to coach and volunteer coaches identify themselves.
  • The person who is being coached requests one of the volunteer coaches to coach them.
  • As the coaching continues for about fifteen minutes, the remainder of the group observes, maybe takes notes but remains quiet.

Sharing of Insights Learned

  • The leader then asks the coach if they are willing to hear comments about the coaching from the others. If the coach states they would like such comments, the observers state what things they liked and what things they didn't like.
  • The observers stay away from offering advice.

  • The meeting closes with a round of the observers sharing what they learned from the meetup.
